Extract FileExtract to a File

(Not available in LISCAD Lite)

Extracts part or all of the currently open data base into a new data base. The currently open data base remains unaltered.

The Edit/Extract to a file command is selected from the Plan View Utilities task.

Item Used to
Save in Select the folder in which the new database is to be extracted to.
File name Key in the name of the new database to be created or to display a database name selected from the list of displayed files that is to be overwritten.
Save as type LISCAD files are always created with a SEE extension.
Point Range Enter a range of point identifiers to be extracted. Those points (including associated lines and polygons) in the range selected will be extracted to the new file. The default range is all points. Note that if a point is selected that is part of a line or polygon which contains unselected points, the unselected points in that line or polygon will also be extracted.
Model Select whether the current terrain model is to be extracted to the new database. This option is only available if there is a model in the current database.
Long Sections Select whether long sections are to be extracted to the new database. This option is only available if long sections have been created in the current database.
Cross Sections Select whether cross sections are to be extracted to the new database. This option is only available if cross sections have been created in the current database.
Save Extract the selected objects to a new database and close the dialog box.
Cancel Close the dialog box without completing the extraction.

If the Block Tool is on, then only those elements which match the block definition will be extracted to the new file. This option is particularly useful for extracting data within a specified boundary. For further information about defining and using blocks, refer to the Block Command and the Block Tool.

Text objects can only be extracted by using a block.
